Renesas, IAR, and Secure Thingz jointly develop industrial IoT security solutions
For interconnected devices, security risks are always there. In the Industrial Internet of Things, external threats and system vulnerabilities can lead to life-threatening or high-risk situations. Therefore, embedded applications in this area require very powerful features to ensure security and reliability. To meet these requirements, Secure Thingz will support Renesas Electronics' microcontrollers (MCUs) in 2019 when Embedded Trust, a secure development environment integrated into the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE, will be introduced to the broader market. This new hardware and software solution allows users to protect their systems, intellectual property (IP) and data.
Hayd Povey, CEO of Secure Thingz, said, “Although laws and new security standards require greater protection, hacking, embezzlement and counterfeiting are still hot news from time to time. The question now has evolved into when you And not whether it will be compromised. We are working with trusted industry partners to protect the connected world and prevent this disruptive behavior. The collaboration of Secure Thingz, IAR Systems and Renesas Electronics will help companies overcome current and future security. challenge."
IAR Systems CEO Stefan Skarin said, "In order to truly bring the Internet of Things to the ground, embedded applications need to have security features from the beginning, both in terms of hardware and software. IAR Systems and Renesas Electronics maintain Long-term partnerships have brought many successful applications and solutions. Today, as a supplier, we will do our best to provide customers with the best solutions for the ubiquitous connected devices and the accompanying security threats. IAR Systems and Secure Thingz work together to provide superior security for everyone, and we are delighted that Renesas Electronics is on this journey with us."
Yokota Satoshi, executive vice president of Renesas Electronics Co., Ltd. and president of the Industrial Solutions Business Unit, said, "Connectivity enhancements bring greater security risks. More and more interconnected industrial devices need to be more in the early stages of chip design. Focus on security to protect chip solutions and applications from potential security issues. Over the past 30 years, our partnership with IAR Systems has brought reliable high performance solutions to the industry, creating many Innovative embedded design; with the recent addition of Secure Thingz, we will be able to provide the security performance needed for the next generation of industrial IoT design."
